Over again
When you think of Nelly you think of songs like Hot in Herre or Dilemma. While these songs were some of his biggest hits to date. He should be remembered for giving us a classic collaboration. A mix of two worlds so different one would never think they could come together to make something as amazing as Over and Over. Sure, Tim McGraw is listed as a sort of...assistant to Nelly, but that is far from the case. The video features the two of them side by side, split screened. Both amazing voices contribute to this song. So why is neither of them are going to be remembered for giving the world a Hip Hop/Country collaboration? I can tell you why, it was a reject. The Hip Hop communuty rejected it because it was just a little too country. And the Country community rejected it because it was billed as a hit for Nelly, not Tim McGraw. Only making it to 51 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop and not even making a dent into the Country world this is easily the biggest flop either of them have had with a hit. It was a hit to the pop world who tend to be a bit open minded to genre crossing. Should this collaboration have happened? Yes and no. Yes, if only to show the world it can be done. But no, because in general the people that listen two these two genres rarely listen to them both. Will there ever be another like this? We can only hope.
